Meet Coach Justin
I’m Justin Halsey, founder of Halsey Performance and a sports performance coach obsessed with one thing:
Helping athletes turn training into real, repeatable performance.
I grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, competing at a high level in basketball and baseball. Like most athletes, I trained hard, or thought I did, but it wasn’t until later that I realized hard work alone doesn’t guarantee results. Structure, intent, and understanding how the body actually works are what separate progress from plateaus. I saw a gap in how most athletes were training, and what actually showed up when it was time to perform.
That realization shaped everything that came next.
Education & Foundation
I attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where I earned my B.S. in Kinesiology, with a deep focus on: Human biomechanics, Sports science, Movement efficiency, Force production and transfer.
I didn’t study training to memorize exercises, studied it to understand why athletes move the way they do, why/how they break down, and how to make training actually show up in competition.
Coaching Experience
Over the last 9 years, I’ve coached thousands of athletes across the DMV and worked with 50+ teams across multiple sports.
My experience spans:

Other Division I collegiate athletes
Some Professional athletes
Elite high school and middle school athletes
Athletes returning from injury
Athletes chasing scholarships and roster spots
I also currently serve as:

Sports Performance Coach – Bishop Ireton Girls Lacrosse (5 seasons)
Sports Performance Coach – Bishop Ireton Softball (3 seasons)
Speed & Agility Coach – STARS Lacrosse Club
Developing high level athletes and refining a high-level college athlete require very different approaches, not cookie-cutter programs.
Why Halsey Performance Exists
It’s not always about doing more, it’s about doing what actually matters.
Some athletes need to train more, but most, don’t need another random workout or skills session.
They need more direction.
They already work hard, they already train, they’re already putting the time in.
But they don’t know:

What’s truly limiting their performance
Or how to train consistently without burning out
So they stay stuck working hard, but not making any real progress.
That’s why Halsey Performance exists, bringing clarity and structure to the process through:
